Desert Storm

During the war, we were not in Kuwait. It started on the 2nd of August, 1990. At that time, I was only 4 years old. My uncle fought for the US army and my  grandmother was so worried about him.
Before the war started, we were in the States, enjoying our summer vacation. We had no idea about the war. My aunt called my dad from Kuwait to tell him that a war was declared and we shouldn't come back to Kuwait. My dad didn't believe her and  so we tuned to CNN and we found out that it was true.
Since the war started at the time we were going to go back to Kuwait, we had spent all our money in our summer vacation. My parents were very worried, and they didn't know what to do.
First, we went to Saudi Arabia and we stayed there for a little while. Then, we left Saudi Arabia and went to Bahrain. We stayed in a hotel and my parents told me that they hated it. I went to school there, KG. My dad said that they had lots of places in Bahrain that had clothes for refugees, but we never took any clothes.
My grandmother and uncle stayed in Kuwait and they said that they had to make lots of food for the Iraqi's because every day they came to my grandmother's house and threatened to kill them if they didn't make any food for them.
My cousins were in London and they went to school there.
Since I was only 4 years old, I didn't understand anything and leaving Kuwait and the war didn't mean anything to me. Now, it means a lot to me. It is my past and I certainly will never forget the war.
